Description
Bite-sized halal-friendly pigs in a blanket made with cocktail sausages and flaky crescent roll dough. The savory-sweet flavor and golden sesame crust make these perfect for parties or quick snacks.
Ingredients
16 cocktail sausages (1-inch thick, halal or chicken-based)
2 packages frozen crescent roll sheets
1 large egg, beaten with 1 tsp water (egg wash)
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
2 tbsp mustard glaze (Dijon or whole grain)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
Thaw crescent rolls on a lightly floured surface and cut into 16 triangles
Wrap one sausage in each triangle, fold into cigars, and twist ends to seal
Brush egg wash onto the dough and sprinkle sesame seeds, if using
Place on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake for 15 minutes until golden
Brush mustard glaze on hot snacking items
Notes
Use halal-certified sausages from specialty stores
Cool dough 5 minutes if too elastic during rolling
Swap sesame seeds with poppy seeds for a different texture
Adjust mustard glaze to taste (add honey or brown sugar for extra sweetness, if desired)
