Description
Crispy, golden chicken wings coated in a smoky-sweet honey BBQ glaze. A halal-friendly recipe featuring a double-baking method for juicy meat and a glossy, sticky finish.
Ingredients
Chicken wings 4 lbs (split into drumettes and flats)
Barbecue sauce 1 cup (use smoky vegan alternative)
Honey 3/4 cup (raw for richest flavor)
Garlic powder 1 tbsp
Paprika 1 tbsp (smoked variety recommended)
Salt 1 tsp (adjust to taste)
Black pepper 1/2 tsp (freshly ground preferred)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) with racks in upper and lower positions
Combine wings, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a large bowl
Pat seasoning into chicken using clean hands for even coverage
Place seasoned wings on wire rack over parchment-lined baking sheet
Bake 30 minutes, rotating pans halfway
Mix barbecue sauce and honey in a small bowl until smooth
Brush glaze onto hot wings during last 10 minutes of baking
Return to oven 7-10 minutes for glossy finish
Notes
Let rest 5 minutes before serving to hold juices
Brush glaze in 2 thin coats for superior adhesion
Underseasoned meat: Increase salt to 1.5 tsp
Gloppy glaze: Add 1-2 tbsp apple cider vinegar to balance honey thickness
Use wire racks to prevent steaming and ensure even browning
