Description

These cranberry balsamic roasted Brussels sprouts offer a sophisticated harmony of tangy, sweet, and earthy flavors. By roasting the sprouts at high heat, they achieve a perfect caramelized exterior while remaining tender inside. Tossed in a rich balsamic maple glaze and finished with aromatic orange zest and tart cranberries, this dish is the ideal elegant side for holiday gatherings or elevated weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 lbs Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
1 cup fresh cranberries, roughly chopped
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp orange zest, freshly grated
1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
0.5 cup toasted pecans (optional)
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F.
In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with melted butter, salt, and black pepper.
Spread the sprouts in a single layer on a heavy-duty baking sheet.
Roast for 20 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through to ensure even browning.
In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, and orange zest.
Add the chopped cranberries to the baking sheet and drizzle the balsamic mixture over the sprouts.
Return to the oven for 5 to 7 minutes until the cranberries are soft and the glaze has thickened.
Garnish with fresh thyme and toasted pecans before serving warm.

Notes

Ensure Brussels sprouts are completely dry after washing to achieve the best caramelization. If you prefer a nut-free version, simply omit the pecans or substitute with sunflower seeds.
