Description

A home-cooked, halal-friendly replica of the Big Mac with three 33g beef patties, house-made Big Mac seasoning, and tangy sauce. Combines unique flavor balance and structural perfection for a taste identical to the McDonald’s classic, minus pork and alcohol.

Ingredients

Scale

Ground beef (100g / 3.5 oz)
80/20 lean-to-fat ratio
Sesame seed buns (2 large)
Split and lightly toasted
American cheese slice (20g)
Place between patties
Big Mac sauce (2 tablespoons)
1 tbsp ketchup, 1 tbsp mustard, 1 tsp sweet pickle relish, 1/4 tsp onion powder
Onion (4 slices)
Thinly sliced and pre-fried until caramelized
Iceberg lettuce (3 large leaves)
Rinsed, patted dry, and chilled in freezer
Pickles (3 slices)
Sweet-style fermented variety
Big Mac seasoning (3/8 tsp)
1/8 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

Preheat griddle or skillet to medium-high heat
Portion ground beef into 3 equal 33g discs
Season both sides of each patty with 1/8 tsp salt equally
Cook patties seared to a golden color, 2 minutes per side
Place one melted cheese slice on the middle patty while cooking
Assemble when patties are slightly cooled (5-7 minutes)
Spread 1 tbsp Big Mac sauce on the bottom bun
Shingle 3 patty layers with cheese between the first and second patties
Top with 1 tbsp sauce, 3 lettuce leaves, and 3 pickle slices
Close the bun and gently press to ensure cohesion
Update with halal/vegetarian alternatives as needed for substitutions

Notes

For best juiciness, grind beef to 1cm uniform texture at home
Use halal-certified cheese as standard American cheese
Replace mustard with prepared yellow mustard for tanginess
Ketchup can be reduced if desired for a stronger beet taste
Double recipe for 2 large burgers as per standard serving
Wait 30 seconds after assembling to serve for optimal texture
