Description
BBQ bacon burgers adapted to halal and non-alcoholic requirements, combining smoky, savory flavors with crispy halal turkey bacon, rich beef patties, and homemade non-alcoholic BBQ sauce for a satisfying meaty experience.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
4 cheddar cheese slices
8 slices halal turkey bacon
1/2 cup mushroom duxelles
1/2 cup non-alcoholic BBQ sauce
4 hamburger buns
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cumin
1 tbsp oil (for buns)
Instructions
Preheat grill to 400°F.
In a bowl, season ground beef with salt, black pepper, and cumin. Knead briefly, then divide into 4 equal patties (2-3 oz each). Flatten to 1/2-inch thickness using a bench scraper.
Place halal turkey bacon slices on a wire rack over indirect heat. Grill for 10-12 minutes until crisp, flipping once. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
Brush buns lightly with oil and place on the grill for 2 minutes per side until charred and toasted.
Add patties to the grill. After 5 minutes, place a cheddar slice on each patty and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts. During the final minute, brush the grilled side of the patties with BBQ sauce.
Transfer the cooked patties to the buns. Top each with mushroom duxelles, fresh lettuce, sweet pickles, and a drizzle of additional BBQ sauce.
Notes
Substitute halal turkey bacon with smoked plant-based bacon for a vegetarian option.
Mushroom duxelles can be swapped with sautéed spinach for a lighter taste.
Use halal-certified beef for strict dietary compliance.
For non-alcoholic BBQ sauce, either use certified alcohol-free commercial sauce or prepare your own at home.
