Ingredients
6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
1.5 cups fresh cranberries
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1.5 cups rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine sliced apples, fresh cranberries, maple syrup, lemon juice, and half of the cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
Toss the fruit mixture until evenly coated and spread into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, and vanilla.
Work the cold, cubed butter into the oat mixture using your fingers or a pastry cutter until crumbly.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit layer.
Bake for 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use frozen cranberries if fresh are unavailable, ensuring they are thawed and drained first. For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a 1-to-1 gluten-free baking blend. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
